Howe, Indiana — Great Commission University (GCU) is grateful and excited to announce that it has been granted accredited status by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS).
The new status was granted by the TRACS Accreditation Commission on October 21 and is effective from July 01, 2025, to June 30, 2030.
This milestone marks a historic moment for GCU as it continues its mission to equip men and women for effective ministry and leadership in fulfilling the Great Commission through biblical higher education.
TRACS is a national accrediting agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Accreditation by TRACS signifies that Great Commission University meets recognized standards of academic and institutional quality and integrity.
“Today, we give all glory to God,” said GCU leadership. “This achievement is the fruit of years of dedication, prayer, and sacrifice by our staff, students, faculty, supporters and friends across the world. Accreditation enables us to serve our students at a higher level, ensuring excellence in education while remaining faithful to our evangelical mission.”
GCU first achieved Candidate (pre-accredited) status with TRACS on January 1, 2025. Following a rigorous self-study process and an on-site evaluation visit by TRACS in July 2025, the university has now successfully completed all requirements for full accreditation.
With this achievement, Great Commission University is now positioned to expand its educational offerings, enhance academic quality, and pursue additional approvals and partnerships that will allow it to better serve both domestic and international students.
Great Commission University currently offers the Bachelor of Arts in Theology and the Master of Divinity with instructional languages English and Spanish.
“Accreditation strengthens our ability to prepare faithful ministers and missionaries for service around the world,” the leadership added. “It is a new chapter for GCU — one of growth, excellence, and renewed commitment to the Great Commission.”
